2018 Mangatahi Chardonnay

$ 60.00 NZD

One hundred percent barrique fermented old vine Chardonnay from Mangatahi.

Straw colour. Fresh and vibrant with grapefruit, melon, and citrus fruit on the nose with complexing nutty, cashew notes. A savoury, lush and full palate with balancing acidity and tension. Immediately appealing as a young wine but with an obvious ability to age for 5+ years.

~ 96 Points/5 Stars ~
Gorgeously fruited and immensely appealing, the bouquet shows golden peach, nougat, cedar, and brioche characters, followed by a succulent palate that is mouth-filling and expansive. Gracefully opulent yet firmly structured with an extremely long sophisticated finish. At its best: 2022 to 2030.

2019 Kawarau Pinot Noir

$ 50.00 NZD

One hundred percent barrique aged Pinot Noir from the Gibbston Valley.

Deep plum with purple hues. Bright aromatics of blackberry, plum, black cherry, aniseed, liquorice, cloves and violets. Silky entry of ripe plum and blackberry with a savoury chocolaty backbone. Fine grained tannin and a mineral acidity lead to a long and balanced finish with good focus.

~ 94 Points/Excellent ~
Aromatic and enticing, youthful, fruity and varietal scents of white and dark red raspberry, black currant and fruit spice. Toasty barrel scents of clove and vanilla with a cinnamon and cedar edge layer in complexity while a savoury mineral suggestion reflects Otago and Gibbston. Dry, savoury and fruity with flavours of dried herb and smoky barrel spices, youthful firm-ish tannins, a touch of gun flint and mineral and balanced acid line. Overall a lovely wine that is young and needing some development time. Well made and should be ready for excellent drinking from the end of 2022 or early 2023 through 2029.

CRU

2022 Heretaunga Albariño

$ 40.00 NZD

Vibrant, flavoursome Albariño from the Fratelli  Vineyard in Bridge Pa, hand-picked, whole bunch pressed, barrique fermented, aged on lees.

Straw coloured with refreshing lime citrus peel, ripe peach, and mandarin characters. Flavours of honeysuckle and stonefruit mingle with a subtle saltiness that provides a
savoury taste to the wine. Rich and full bodied yet fresh with mouthwatering crisp salivating acidity giving great balance, length and structure.

~ 91 Points ~ It is a joy of a mouthful, all florals, ripe peaches and juicy apples. It's been well treated, too, having been handpicked, whole bunch pressed, barrel fermented and aged on lees. These methods add to the variety's rounded shape, curved edges and suave texture. Albariño's classically tangy finish is in plain sight, refreshing the palate and bringing a salty, citrus finale.
